The Corporation

Founded in 1995, The Wisdom Fund is a nonprofit, tax-exempt corporation registered in the Commonwealth of Virginia. Classified as a Section 501(c)(3) organization as described in the Internal Revenue Code, donors may deduct contributions as provided in Section 170 — employee identification number 54-1755689. We're located in the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area (see red star on map below) between the Pentagon and Washington National Airport.

Madrasah Books is a division of The Wisdom Fund.

Mission

The mission of The Wisdom Fund is to advance social justice and interfaith understanding by presenting The Truth About Islam.

Directors

The Bylaws require five directors whose primary duty is to raise funds to accomplish corporate objectives, and to assure the highest standards of integrity in all activities of The Wisdom Fund.

The founding Director is Enver Masud. Dr. Ayub K. Ommaya served on the Board from 1998 through 2005.

Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee provides advice and assistance on fund raising, marketing and sales, and organization development.

Our Visitors

We receive visitors from more than 120 countries — the top 25 are: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Netherlands, India, Germany, Ireland, Russian Federation, Pakistan, Italy, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Norway, France, Japan, Singapore, Poland, Sweden, South Africa, Turkey, Denmark, Brazil, New Zealand, Finland.

We placed ahead of the Islamic Center of North America and the Muslim Public Affairs Council, but behind the Islamic Society of North America and the Council on American-Islamic Relations in Alexa's 3-month average traffic rank.

'The Truth About Islam'

Created in 1995, "The Truth About Islam" was displayed in the Washington Metro (Aug '98), and has been published in Islamic Horizons (Jan/Feb '99), The Brown Journal of World Affairs (Fall '96), Washington Report On Middle East Affairs (Apr '96), Foreign Affairs (Jul/Aug and Nov/Dec '95), American Muslim Council's The AMC Report (May '95), The Washington Times (Feb '95), Eastern Times (Aug '95), etc.

News & Views

Our news releases have been reprinted in newspapers and magazines from the US to UK to Malaysia to Australia to South Africa. We've been cited in Le Monde (the largest French daily), and discussed on C-Span. We formulate our positions on the basis of justice and compassion, do not take sides with political parties, and believe in the right of all to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."

The Wisdom Fund's news releases may be freely reproduced provided that they are not edited, and our name and URL are included.

Our Name, Motto, Logo

Our name, and motto (Timeless Wisdom for Lasting Community), were inspired by Huston Smith author of The Illustrated World's Religions — A Guide To Our Wisdom Traditions. To paraphrase Prof. Smith: "If you take the best of the enduring world religions, you have the distilled wisdom of the human race." We make no special claim to wisdom. We do seek, try to use, and share "the distilled wisdom of the human race" — a gift to all of us.

Our logo is from an early 16th century, carved stone panel from Khan al-Saboun, Aleppo, Syria. The Square Kufi script reads: "There is no god but God, Muhammad is the Messenger of God." It was designed by the firm Sakkal Design.

Source/Use of Funds

Your donations, sponsorship of our advertising, and the purchase of posters of "The Truth About Islam" are our sole source of funds. About 95% of The Wisdom Fund's gross income is used to disseminate The Truth About Islam. All work is done free by volunteers.
